A Summer Italian Intensive Course (3 College Credits in 3 Weeks) is Waiting for You
Inserra Endowed Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies, Montclair State University is pleased to announce the 2018 edition of the Summer Italian Intensive Course for College Credit offered to high school students of the Tri-State area at Montclair State University through the Italian Program (MLL), Summer Session, and Early College, in association with a consortium of NJ high schools and with the support of the Inserra Chair Endowment and IACE.
Through classroom activities, guest speakers' talks and field trips (Metropolitan Museum, Eataly, Italian design companies), the program aims to consolidate rising senior students’ intermediate Italian skills on their way to an advanced level, including AP classes and the AP exam.
This collaborative project, which brings together high school teachers and university professors in the design and implementation of the course, is a tool to encourage the study of Italian language and culture along the HS-college continuum, and thus promote Italian Studies as a discipline at large.
This intensive course in Italian was launched in the summer of 2017: see VIDEO, PHOTO GALLERY andSTUDENTS’ FEEDBACK from the first edition. It is taught on the Montclair State University campus by a native speaker instructor with direct knowledge of both the HS and university systems, and coordinated by an experienced high school teacher.
