At their annual gala they honored Lisa Lemole Oz, welcomed new chair Patricia Martone and raised funds for more cultural exchanges.

    Aileen Riotto Sirey, Founder and Chair of NOIAW, meets i-Italy to share her memories of her best friend Geraldine Ferraro, the first woman be a candidate for Vice-Presidency of the United States, as well as the only Italian-American to run for such a high office. A role model for Italian-American women, Ferraro died on March 26, 2011 after twelve years from being diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

    On June 11, 2011, NOIAW held its eleventh Gala Luncheon in midtown Manhattan. Soprano Cristina Fontanelli sang both the Italian and American national anthems at the event’s commencement. Honored at the luncheon were best-selling author, Lisa Scottoline, and President of the City College of New York, Dr. Lisa Staiano-Coico. A special tribute was paid to founding member, the late Geraldine Ferraro, on this special occasion.

    Geraldine Ferraro died on March 26, 2011. Perhaps no one as yet, within our community of Italian Americans, has reached her plateau of being the first woman, as well as the first, and still only, Italian American to be a candidate for such a high office as the vice-presidency of the United States. In September 2009 Geraldine Ferraro was honored at the annual luncheon of the National Organization of Italian American Women (NOIAW), the only organization of its kind still today. In her speech to NOIAW and its many supporters, that we report here in full, she underscored the ethnic element of her political and personal life experience.

    A Tavola! NOIAW Celebrates its 30th Anniversary with Lidia Bastianich

    On June 10, 2010 the National Organization of Italian American Women celebrated its 30th Anniversary. Guests of honor were Lidia Bastianich and her family, "for being such an outstanding example of an Italian American family and for successfully promoting our heritage". For the occasion five young Italian-American women were awarded $5,000 NOIAW scholarships as a contribution and encouragement to pursue their studies

    30 Years of NOIAW. Celebrating the Milestone with Lidia Bastianich and Family

    On June 10, 2010, the National Organization of Italian American Women (NOIAW) will hold its 30th Anniversary Gala at the Waldorf=Astoria, honoring the Bastianich family members Lidia Bastianich, Joseph Bastianich, Tanya Bastianich Manuali, Nonna Erminia and grandchildren for their outstanding contributions to Italian culture in America. The proceeds from the Gala will help to support NOIAW programs such as the Mentor Program, the Scholarship Program, and the Cultural Exchenge Program

    A Spring Break in Italy with NOIAW

    The National Organization of Italian American Women, in collaboration with ANFE (Associazione Nazionale Famiglie Emigranti), is organizing a trip to Sicily (Palermo, Catania, and surrounding areas) and Rome from April 20 to April 29. Take a break from your everyday life and reconnect with your roots in this relaxing and fun tour! Show-biz stars Joe Bologna and Renee Tayler will accompany you throughout the trip , while former governor of the State of New York Mario Cuomo and his wife Matilda will join the group for some of the activities scheduled! The trip is open to everybody, but very few places are left. Hurry up!
