Photographer Lori Fusaro’s life changed forever in June 2012 during her volunteering at Carson Animal Care Center in Los Angeles County. There she saw Sunny, a 16-year-old dog who had been left at the shelter because of a tumor on her leg. After spending three wonderful years together, Fusaro got the idea for her senior-dog photography project in order to inspire people to think about adopting a senior animal.
