Get ready for a special appointment with the successful KITCAFFE’@the cell! The mission of the Literary Salon created by Kairos Italy Theater, the Italian theatre in NY, is to share masterpieces of Italian Literature of all time with the American audience.
KITCAFFE’@the cell started in October at “the cell”, a former gallery now transformed into a performance space. Since October, though, KIT (this is the nickname of the theater company) has also worked on another project, for which the Artistic Director Laura Caparrotti cares dearly. “I have always been a big fan of Franca Valeri. I believe she is one of the (not recognized) geniuses of the last two centuries. Her memory is though pretty much alive, as her plays are still put on stage throughout Italy.
"It is many years that I want to bring one of her plays to New York. Finally, my dreamhas come true: in February we’ll debut with a comedy called “Tosca e le altre due” (Tosca and the other two) at the cell.”
In order to support the production of the new play, Ms. Caparrotti and the rest of the company at Kairos Italy Theater have transformed the last scheduled KITCAFFE’@the cell event of 2009 in a fundraising one.
The event will include bilingual readings of scenes of the play and of works by Italian female writers; performances by fellow artist Anabella Lenzu/Dance Drama and Opera singers, a silent auction with items donated by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Cipriani le Specialita’, la Collina Italiana, Trumpets Jazz Club and many others; and a big fat raffle with surprising prizes. Being a fundraising event, and more precisely a KITFundraiser, there will be plenty of food, offered by the restaurant Sora Lella NYC. Plenty of wine will be served to celebrate the upcoming projects of the theater company.
The appointment is for Friday December 11th at the cell (338 w 23rd street) from 6 to 9:30. There is a suggested donation at the door of $ 20.00. For more information, you can contact [email protected].
