In celebration of the 500th year anniversary of the artist’s death, the first appointment for the "Rome Espresso" series will focus on one of Raphael’s oft-overlooked masterpieces in Rome’s historic center, tucked away in the "theater church" of Santa Maria della Pace.

Tess Amedeo Vickery, founder of Clam Tours will set the stage, introducing you to the artwork in the context of its setting amidst a complex site that saw much evolution across the centuries. Professor Giulia Silvia Ghia of La Sapienza University in Rome and New Jersey City University, and founder of Verderame progetto cultura (Rome) and International Friends of Verderame (New York), will then explain the fresco in detail, while master restorer & special guest Antonio Forcellino divulges what he discovered during his 2020 restoration.

The live-streamed tour will last ~30min with ~10min for live Q&A with participants at the end, and in case you can't tune in live, a video recording will be delivered exclusively to participants the following week, so don't miss this opportunity to travel to Rome from the comfort of your coffee table!

Una visita agli incredibili affreschi della quattro Sibille realizzati dal “divino” Raffaello nella chiesa di Santa Maria della Pace. A spiegarci il recente restauro sarà con noi Antonio Forcellino, che ha curato l’intervento conservativo. Per celebrare i 500 anni dalla morte dell'artista, il nostro primo appuntamento per la serie "Rome Espresso" sarà incentrato su uno dei capolavori spesso trascurati di Raffaello nel centro storico di Roma, nascosto nella "chiesa teatro" di Santa Maria della Pace .

Tess Amedeo Vickery, fondatrice della Clam Tours, preparerà il palcoscenico, introducendoci all'opera d'arte nel contesto della sua ambientazione in un sito complesso che ha visto molte evoluzioni nel corso dei secoli. La professoressa Giulia Silvia Ghia dell'Università La Sapienza di Roma  e della New Jersey City University, nonché fondatrice di Verderame progetto cultura (Roma) e International Friends of Verderame (New York), spiegherà poi in dettaglio l'affresco, mentre il maestro restauratore e ospite speciale Antonio Forcellino divulgherà ciò che ha scoperto durante il suo restauro del 2020.

Il tour in streaming dal vivo e in lingua inglese, durerà ~ 30 minuti con ~ 10 minuti per le domande e risposte in diretta con i partecipanti alla fine e, nel caso in cui non sia possibile sintonizzarsi in diretta, una registrazione video verrà inviata esclusivamente ai partecipanti la settimana successiva, quindi non perdere questa opportunità per viaggiare a Roma dalla comodità del proprio tavolino davanti ad un caffè!
